For beginners, the very first lesson will primarily be focused on going over safety/barn rules and lesson plans -- it's important that the student know how to stay safe around the horses! We will practice catching, grooming, and tacking up the horse, and there will be a little riding time at the end. The second lesson will involve more riding time than the first, once the student is aware of safety rules/expectations and has a general idea of how to prepare the horse to be ridden.
For intermediate/experienced riders, the first lesson will allow the riding instructor to get an idea of where the student is at in their riding and knowledge of basic horse care. You will catch, groom, and tack up the horse, and the instructor will assist you as needed.
--The student should come wearing long pants (preferably jeans or breeches) and boots with a heel.
--A helmet will be provided. If you have your own riding helmet, you are welcome to bring it.
--Sunscreen and a full water bottle are highly recommended.
*Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance will not receive a refund.*
Travel cost may be added for horses outside of Haven Hills barn.
